Day 1: ARRIVE LAUNCESTON

Tonight’s welcome dinner will be hosted by your Journey Director.

Day 2: LAUNCESTON - CORINNA

Corinna - wilderness experience in Pieman River State Reserve - luxury short breaks TasmaniaAfter breakfast, we take a short tour of Launceston, Tasmania’s only inland city before travelling west to Burnie where we enjoy lunch. Continuing west, we arrive at the award-winning eco retreat, Corinna Wilderness Village set in the pristine Tarkine temperate rainforest. Corinna was a historic mining town and today is an oasis in the wild. This afternoon, for those interested, we take the Huon Pine Boardwalk along the Pieman River to view rare and beautiful Huon pines.

Day 3: CORINNA

Corinna - the Arcadia II, Huon pine river cruise - luxury short breaks TasmaniaThis morning we depart for a truly memorable cruise on board the Arcadia II, the only Huon pine river cruiser in the world.  The natural beauty of the Tarkine comes to life again this afternoon during our Sweetwater cruise to view Savage river and Lovers Falls. Today is a true celebration of pristine nature’s splendour.

Day 4: CORINNA - TALL TIMBERS

Arthur River - bend in the river surrounded by rainforest - luxury short breaks TasmaniaDiscover the remote beauty at the “Edge of The World” as you find yourself in awe at the spectacular views of the Tarkine Coast. Continue to Sumac Lookout towering over the Arthur River as it carves its way through blackwood forest. Transfer to our award-winning accommodation, Tall Timbers in Smithton, the perfect base from which to explore the abundant attractions of the North West Coast.

Day 5: WOOLNORTH

Drive to the Woolnorth Wind Farm this morning. There are 37 wind turbines at Bluff Point Wind Farm, which is built in the prevailing westerly winds, the roaring 40s, a world-class wind asset. Learn about convicts, farming and much more at the Woolnorth historic precinct while driving through picturesque farm lands. Stop at the breathtaking Cape Grim known for its dramatic coastline and sensational seascape views of islands off Tasmania’s North West tip. We then head to the delightful town of Stanley, famed for its natural beauty, unspoiled coastlines and expansive, rolling plains. After lunch, there is an opportunity to take The Nut Chairlift or enjoy free time in Stanley before exploring the Highfield Historic Site.

Day 6: TALL TIMBERS - LAUNCESTON

Smithton - Tall Timbers award-winning accommodation - luxury short breaks TasmaniaWe visit Fern Glade Reserve after breakfast, a peaceful river valley abundant in flora and fauna.  Following, we tour the famous Hellyers Road Whisky Distillery followed by a tasting at the Ashgrove Cheese Farm, popular with dairy gourmands, before returning to Launceston. Enjoy your delicious farewell dinner this evening at award-winning Brisbane Street Bistro.

Level of Fitness Required – Easy Going

These journeys are not physically demanding unless you want them to be. They include easy guided walks, which are mainly on flat ground. There will be times when you are required to board a launch for shore excursions. You must be able to walk up to 1 kilometre unaided and will not need any foreseen assistance throughout the journey. For all clients to fully enjoy this travel experience, excellent health and mobility is required by all. Please note that although rated Easy Going, there will be opportunities to be more active with optional walks at Corinna Wilderness Experience.
