Upon arival in Adelaide, transfer to the Mayfair Hotel, Adelaide’s newest 5 star boutique hotel. Enjoy an afternoon history walk of the city of Churches before a delicious welcome dinner.

Departing Adelaide after breakfast, we transfer to Whyalla. We visit the heritage listed Pt Lowly Lighthouse and lighthouse keepers’ cottages. Heading Northeast, we drive to Fitzgerald Bay which offers stunning views of the blue gulf waters framed by picturesque hills and the Southern Flinders Ranges. Fitzgerald Bay was home to a kingfish farm operator and you can still see the sea cages which are visible from the shoreline.

This morning we learn the stories and see behind the scenes of more than 100 years of Australian iron and steelmaking history at the Liberty GFG Steelworks. Approximately 1.2 million tonnes of raw steel is produced in the steelworks each year providing products for the construction and rail transport industries.
This afternoon we visit the Whyalla Maritime Museum, home of the former HMAS Whyalla, the first ship built in the Whyalla Shipyards in 1941. The Museum also houses a treasured collection of artefacts and memorabilia relating to World War II and BHP shipbuilding history plus a shark and natural history exhibition.

We head south today visiting picturesque Arno Bay before arriving at Glen Forest Animal Park to hand feed kangaroos. We drive on to Big Swamp Sanctuary, considered to be a wetland of National significance before arriving at Port Lincoln. Here we will visit three local icons – sculptures of Makybe Diva, the Tuna Poller and Matthew Flinders’ seafaring cat, Trim.

Today we visit the Flinders Ports Wharf & Marina to see the Southern Hemisphere’s largest fishing fleet at work unloading their catch before enjoying the freshest seafood lunch you’ve ever had! Later, we enjoy an incredible up close experience with koalas at Lincoln National Park.

We begin the day at South Australia’s only coffee roastery before heading into the sublime azure of Coffin Bay for a cruise of its world renowned oyster farms. Following a seafood lunch, we explore the pristine Coffin Bay National Park and spectacular coastline.

This morning we embark on a scenic Boston Bay cruise learning about the aquaculture fishing in the region before a lunch celebrating the bounty of the ocean and the land. We then visit Axel Stenross Maritime Museum, an experiential museum based around fishing and early boat building history. Enjoy a wine tasting at a local winery before our flight to Adelaide and our farewell dinner.

After breakfast, transfer to Adelaide airport. Say farewell to new friends and take away memories of a delightful Eyre Peninsula Sojourn.

Level of Fitness Required – Easy Going
These journeys are not physically demanding unless you want them to be. They include easy guided walks, which are mainly on flat ground. There will be times when you are required to board a launch for shore excursions. You must be able to walk up to 500 metres unaided and will not need any foreseen assistance throughout the journey. For all clients to fully enjoy this travel experience, excellent health and mobility is required by all.
