Alice Springs

After breakfast, we visit the Araluen Cultural Precinct, home to some of the most significant artistic, cultural and historical experiences in Alice Springs. The precinct hosts theatre performances, gallery exhibitions and museum collections that draw from the natural history of the region, Aboriginal art and culture, and European settlement.

This afternoon we tour the West McDonnell Ranges enjoying guided walks at a relaxed pace taking in the flora and fauna and panoramic landscapes, extraordinary for their immensity and the spectacular array of sun-burnt oranges, maroons and purples on display. We also visit Simpsons Gap and the stunning Standley Chasm. Dinner at leisure this evening.

Alice Springs - Uluru

After breakfast we visit the School of the Air which has provided education to remote Australia since 1951, their broadcast area covering 1.3 million square kilometres. Visit the Alice Springs Desert Park where you will immerse yourself in the beauty and mystery of Australia’s deserts. Wander through the ancient landscape, experience the animals of the night and discover the diversity of desert plants. Be inspired by ancient living cultures, gain an awareness of the interconnected life in the desert and marvel at free flying birds.

After lunch, we fly to Uluru for an afternoon at leisure before departing for a dinner unlike any other. Soak in the magic of fine dining under the Southern Desert sky during the ‘Tali Wiru’ experience.

Overnight: Sails in the Desert

This morning we travel towards Uluru, its vast shape rising from the sand dunes as the early dawn light shines over this amazing monolith. You will embrace the culture, geology and environment that is Uluru before moving on to Kata Tjuta where you can revel in the serenity of a truly spiritual place.

This afternoon we depart to view the highlight of this journey, the once in a lifetime art installation, Field of Light. In keeping with the desert’s vast scale, this is Munro’s largest work to date; more than 50,000 slender stems crowned with radiant frosted-glass spheres over an area the size of four football fields; it is the
artist’s first work to be illuminated through solar power. The spheres, connected via optical fibre, will bloom as darkness falls. Pathways created by the artwork will draw viewers into the installation, which will come to life under a sky brilliant with stars.

An extraordinary dinner this evening; with magnificent views of Uluru at sunset, a special three-course bush tucker menu, premium selection of Australian wines & beers, fascinating star talk and a self-guided walk through the Field of Light art installation will stay with you forever!

Overnight: Sails in the Desert

This morning we take the opportunity to fully appreciate the unsurpassed splendour of Central Australia from an incredible perspective. Accompanied by expert commentary, marvel as we helicopter above Uluru, Kata Tjuta, Kings Canyon and the Domes of the Lost City for yet another unforgettable Red Centre experience. An afternoon at leisure before joining your fellow travellers for a farewell dinner at Sails in the Desert.
