After a spectacular scenic flight, we arrive on K’gari (Fraser Island), the world’s largest sand island. Explore this World Heritage listed wilderness from the massive shifting sand blows, to the incredible indigo blue of Lake McKenzie. We will explore 75 mile beach by 4WD and enjoy a private whale watching cruise. Transfer from Maroochydore airport to the luxurious Sofitel Noosa Pacific Resort located in the heart of Hastings Street. The only 5 star hotel in Noosa, you will be welcomed by its warm, coastal chic style. Tonight we enjoy a wonderful welcome dinner with breathtaking views over Laguna Bay hosted by your Journey Director, a perfect chance to meet your fellow travellers.

After breakfast we will discover why Noosa is one of the most popular beachside destinations in Australia. We will explore stunning beaches, lakes, the Noosa Everglades and Noosa National Park.
We will drive along the coastline to Laguna lookout then on to Point Perry capturing spectacular vistas of the beaches and the region from amazing viewpoints. We will cross Noosa river on board a ferry to the charming town of Tewantin and will enjoy a delicious chocolate tasting at Noosa Chocolate factory. Next we enjoy a cruise of the Noosa Everglades, one of only two everglades systems on Earth.

After breakfast, we board a scenic charter flight to K’gari (Fraser Island) gaining an aerial perspective of the largest sand island in the world which stretches over 123 kilometres along the southern coast of Queensland. We land at 75 Mile Beach and commence an incredible exploration of this World Heritage listed island.
We visit Eli Creek which pours up to four million litres of clear, fresh water into the ocean every hour and we view the The Maheno shipwreck which was driven ashore during a cyclone in 1935. We also visit The Pinnacles, Coloured Sands, Indian Head and Champagne Pools, enjoying a picnic lunch along the way. Late afternoon, we transfer to the award-winning Kingfisher Bay Resort, which was built to reflect its natural surrounds.

An exciting day awaits as we enjoy a whale watching cruise in waters considered to be some of the most prolific whale spotting sites in Australia. Marvel at these majestic Humpbacks as they rest and frolic in the calm waters. Following the cruise, we will explore the K’gari World Heritage Discovery Centre to gain an insight into the unique and complex ecology of the world’s largest sand island. It is these natural values that led to the island’s World Heritage listing back in 1992. We will learn about the vegetation, such as rainforests growing from sand and pristine freshwater lakes, paired with the unique wildlife that inhabit this diverse landscape. This afternoon, we have the opportunity to sample and learn during a bush tucker talk and taste experience prior to our dinner at Kingfisher Bay Resort.

Today we enjoy an incredible 4WD exploration of this World Heritage listed island. Our ranger guide will explain the ecology of the island as we visit iconic beauty spots including the striking turquoise and navy blues of Lake McKenzie, Central Station, Pile Valley and beautiful Wanggoolba Creek.
We depart K’gari (Fraser Island) and return to Noosa via the impressive towering cliffs of coloured sand at Rainbow Beach, a former sand mining town. We will enjoy views of the sparkling waters of the Noosa River before arriving at our hotel. Tonight will be our farewell dinner at Noosa Beach House Restaurant. Nestled on Noosa’s iconic Hastings Street, Noosa Beach House Restaurant redefines indulgence celebrating authentic local flavours in a chic ambiance.

After breakfast, transfer to Maroochydore or Ballina Airport for your flight home taking with you memories of a fabulous Winter Getaway to the Sunshine and Fraser Coasts.

Pre Tour
Flights from your home port to Noosa are not included in the journey price. Should you require flights to and from Noosa, we can provide a competitive quote on airfares and pre and post tour accommodation in Noosa, at the commencement and conclusion of your journey.
Level of Fitness Required – Moderate
This journey is more challenging and designed for the more active traveller who is looking to venture off the beaten path. To fully participate in all activities, the traveller must be able to walk up to 1km on even surfaces unaided, travel by four-wheel drive vehicles along ungraded roads and walk up steps unassisted. For this journey, you will need to be able to board and alight from a charter aircraft after a beach landing on K’gari (Fraser Island). Some uneven surfaces will be encountered while touring on K’gari (Fraser Island) when beach and trail walking. This tour is unfortunately not suitable for clients with walking sticks.
We strongly urge you to consider the fitness rating before selecting your preferred journey, in respect for your fellow travellers. Bill Peach Journeys reserves the right to refuse travel to any client whose fitness level is below the recommended rating.
