Bill Peach Journeys has been taking clients to the Kimberley region for over 40 years. This journey has been handcrafted to include some of our favourite destinations in this region. The area is so diverse and at the same time, huge distances are involved to get from place to place. Using private aircraft we transport you in a timely fashion whilst seeing incredible sights from the air. From the rich red landscape of El Questro Wilderness Park to the rugged coastline of Berkeley River this will be a journey of a lifetime.

Day 1: ARRIVE DARWIN

Upon arrival in Darwin, your private transfer will take you to Mantra on the Esplanade. The balance of the day is at leisure.

Overnight: Mantra on the Esplanade – One Bedroom Ocean View

Day 2: DARWIN - KUNUNURRA
After breakfast this morning you will be transferred to Darwin airport for your commercial flight to Kununurra. Upon arrival at Kununurra, you will be met at the airport by your private guide/driver. You will then visit the historic Argyle Homestead, home of the famous pioneering family, the Duracks. The story of the Durack’s great cattle drive through unmapped terrain to settle in this area is told in Mary Durack’s well-known book, Kings in Grass Castles. The hardships experienced and the endurance of this family is a remarkable part of Australian history.You will then embark on a boat ride up the Ord River, through the inspiring scenery of the Kimberley region. The cruise continues to the impressive Dam wall, which holds back the waters of Lake Argyle, capable of holding 44 times the volume of water of Sydney Harbour. You will learn about local industries and the fascinating irrigation systems of this area.At the conclusion of this tour, you will be transferred to the Kimberley Grand Hotel for check-in. Dinner tonight is at leisure.

Day 3: KUNUNURRA - EL QUESTRO

This morning after breakfast you will be transferred to Kununurra Airport. Your scenic flight will depart from Kununurra to El Questro Homestead. This scenic two-hour aircruise will have you fly over Purnululu National Park before landing at the El Questro Station strip where you are then transferred via 4WD to your luxury accommodation.

El Questro Wilderness Park extends for approximately 80 km north-south and 60 km east-west, totalling one million acres in size. Its landscape offers outstanding diversity – from rugged sandstone ranges and broad tidal flats, to rainforest pockets, gorges, and permanent waterfalls. At the heart of El Questro Wilderness Park lies The Homestead. Perched atop a cliff with vistas of the Chamberlain River, The Homestead is a boutique oasis and will be your home for the next two evenings. This is the ultimate luxury in the most spectacular rugged landscape on earth.

Day 4: EL QUESTRO

There is an array of complimentary activities to do at El Questro. A cruise through the Chamberlain Gorge is a must! During the cruise, you will enjoy the diverse flora and fauna, resident rock wallabies, Johnston crocodiles and the always cheeky Archer fish – which are all familiar inhabitants of the gorge. Relax on the peaceful return journey at dusk when the colours of the Kimberley shine on the towering cliffs.

Day 5: EL QUESTRO – BERKELEY RIVER LODGE

After a sumptuous breakfast, your private aircraft is waiting to transport you to Berkeley River Lodge. Departing El Questro the flight is to the northwest where the Cockburn range comes into view. This spectacular range is very unique with its vertical cliff running the whole way around the range. We then cross the Pentecost River, home to many Saltwater crocodiles. The flight takes in the Cambridge Gulf, used by ships to access the Port of Wyndham. Prior to landing, the Berkeley River, and the Kimberley Coastline come into view.

The Berkeley River Lodge is nestled on the gentle curve of Joseph Bonaparte Gulf on Australia’s remote north Kimberley coast. A stone’s throw away from some of the most spectacular untouched coastal wilderness on earth. From your dune top ocean view villa, you’re just a sandy-footed stroll away from pristine wildlife-rich bushland and secluded beaches, where the only frequent visitors are dolphins, dugongs, and turtles.

Day 6: BERKELEY RIVER LODGE

Spend the day taking in this extraordinary environment, one of the truly last touched frontiers. On a river cruise, you can glide past towering rugged cliffs to the remotest freshwater swimming holes, stunning waterfalls, and majestic gorges, where the peace and tranquillity is broken only by birdsong. The lodge will provide the activities on offer for the day.

Day 7: BERKELEY RIVER LODGE – DARWIN

Depart Berkeley River this morning for your flight to Darwin. Upon arrival, you will be met and transferred to the Mantra on the Esplanade.

Overnight: Mantra on the Esplanade – One Bedroom Ocean View (B)

Day 8: DARWIN – HOME

Your journey concludes today after breakfast and you are transferred to the airport for your flight home.

Mode of Transport

This journey will utilise aircraft which are perfect for landing in the remote destinations throughout this journey. To ensure a variety of viewing for everyone, we change seat allocation each day. The aircraft is operated by an experienced pilot.  The coaches that we use for this journey are fully air-conditioned.

Fitness Level – Active

This journey is more challenging and designed for the more active traveller who is looking to venture off the beaten path. To fully participate in all activities the traveller must be able to walk up to 2km on even surfaces unaided, travel by open four-wheel drive vehicles along ungraded roads, walk up steps unassisted and board boats from water tenders.

In keeping with the locations, some of the accommodation is spread out and at some distance from facilities. As always, we use the best available accommodation.

Given the locations, only limited medical supplies are available in areas visited, therefore, all required medications will need to be brought from home by you.

Travel Insurance

We strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance to cover you against such things as personal illness or accident, cancellation, loss of baggage etc. Please make sure you carry a copy of your Travel Insurance policy with you at all times.
