This is the ultimate Australian journey! Join us for a private aircraft adventure which makes its way around the entire continent’s magnificent coastline. Departing from Sydney we head north to Byron Bay, Rockhampton and Cairns aircruising above the spectacular Great Barrier Reef. We continue to the tip at Cape York and beyond to Horn and Thursday Islands with plenty of time to explore this remarkable destination. We begin our journey west in strategically important and visually spectacular Gove then on to Darwin. We continue further west to Kununurra aircrusing above the breathtaking Buccaneer Archipelago arriving in the pearling town of Broome with time to relax. Heading south we enjoy the inspiring sights of Yardie Creek Gorge, Exmouth, Ningaloo Reef, Monkey Mia, Bunbury and Esperance. Heading east we stop at seaside Ceduna, Blue Lake and Mt Gambier. We round out this incredible journey in Hobart before arriving back in Sydney!

Today our journey begins in Sydney. Boarding our private aircraft, we fly north to Byron Bay, Australia’s easternmost destination where we visit the renowned lighthouse and enjoy lunch. Continuing north to Rockhampton flying over the spectacular Great Barrier Reef en route, marvelling at the myriad blues and greens below. This evening, join our Journey Director and fellow travellers at a welcome dinner.

We tour the central Queensland town of Rockhampton this morning and stand on the Tropic of Capricorn. We reboard our
private aircraft and head to the capital of the tropical north – Cairns. After a tour where we learn about this gateway to World
Heritage wonders, we transfer to the newly opened luxury of the Riley Crystalbrook Cairns.

Reboard the aircraft today for an exploration of the very tip of the continent – Cape York. Spectacular flightseeing over the Gulf of Carpentaria awaits – the northernmost point of the continent. Landing in Bamaga, a 4WD takes you to the tip of Australia – the largest unspoilt wilderness in Northern Australia and one of the last remaining wilderness areas on earth. This afternoon we fly to Horn Island, known as ‘Noerupai’ to the Kaurareg people. We learn about the island’s inhabitants and history including the gold mining of the 1890’s.

This morning we take a ferry across the stunning blue water of the Torres Strait for a full day exploration of Thursday Island,
inhabited by Melanesian and Polynesian people for over 2000 years. We visit Green Hill Fort – built between 1891-1893 as part of Australia’s defence against a possible Russian invasion. Also explore Gab Titui, the Torres Strait’s first keeping place for historical artefacts and contemporary Indigenous art before returning to Horn Island.

Departing Horn Island we fly east to Gove which is located on the most north eastern part of Arnhem Land. The Gove Peninsula is scenic with long white sandy beaches, azure waters and green vegetation. This vast tract of nearly 100,000 sq km of land is one of Australia’s last strongholds of traditional Aboriginal culture which we will explore today.

We explore more of fascinating Gove this morning and learn how the peninsula became strategically important during World War II when a Royal Australian Air Force base was constructed. Heading east again, we fly to Darwin, the Northern Territory’s unhurried capital. An afternoon at leisure to relax or perhaps stroll along the nearby Esplanade perched on the cliffs of Darwin Harbour or explore the WWII walking trail stretching along the seafront.

We travel further west today as we depart Darwin and lunch in Kununurra, the heart of the Kimberley. A flightseeing highlight next as we enjoy spectacular views over the far northwest coastline and the Buccaneer Archipelago on our way to the historic pearling port of Broome on the breathtaking Kimberley coast.

Today enjoy a day at leisure. Either relax in the resort or explore the township of Broome established in the days of the flourishing pearling industry at the turn of the century.

This morning we fly to Exmouth and experience a true highlight as we embark on a private boat tour viewing the shear limestone cliffs of Yardie Creek Gorge and enjoy a gourmet picnic under the shade of Tamarisk Trees. A remarkable sunset this evening accompanied by cheese and wine as we marvel at the view from the lookout by Vlamingh Head Lighthouse.

This morning we explore Ningaloo Reef which meets the beach of northwest cape and is virtually an untouched barrier reef 260km in length protecting a shallow brilliant white sandy lagoon of clear tropical waters. It is home to more than 500 species of tropical fish and 220 species of coral. You can venture into the waters for a first hand exploration of this tropical wonderland or view the prolific marine life from a glass bottom boat. This afternoon, visit the dramatic Charle’s Knife Canyon in the Cape Range National Park – a photographers delight!

Departing Exmouth we enjoy breathtaking sights of Ningaloo reef from the air before arriving in Shark Bay. Upon arrival visit the Shark Bay Interpretive & Discovery Centre where the remarkable wild dolphins come in to the beach every day of their own free will.

This morning we marvel at breathtaking ‘flightseeing’ over the Shark Bay region, including wonderful views over Useless Loop, Steep Point and Cape Inscription. Upon arrival in Perth, transfer to King’s Park, one of the world’s largest and most beautiful inner city parks. Perched on the crest of Mount Eliza, it is home to the spectacular Western Australian Botanic Garden, which displays over 3,000 species of the State’s unique flora. From here we transfer to Sandalford Winery in the Swan Valley, visit one of Australia’s finest wineries for a wine tasting experience followed by lunch. One of the icons of the Australian wine industry, the region has earned an international reputation for making wines that rank alongside the world’s finest. This afternoon we fly to Esperance and enjoy spectacular aerial flightseeing over the Rescherche
Archipelago famed for its pure white sandy beaches that run into the brilliant blue waters of the Southern Ocean.

One of the highlights of this extraordinary journey will be today’s dramatic aerial sights of Australia’s rugged coastline. We will enjoy unsurpassed views of the majestic Great Australian Bight on our flight to the seaside town of Ceduna. The oyster capital of Australia, Ceduna is located on the shores of Murat Bay on the west coast of the Eyre Peninsula.

After breakfast, we head further east to Mt Gambier known for its limestone, volcanic landscape and crater lakes. We will visit
the renowned Blue Lake before reboarding the private aircraft to fly over the famous Twelve Apostles, on the Great Ocean Road in Victoria. Rising up from the Southern Ocean, the massive limestone structures that tower above the tempestuous Southern Ocean will leave you awe-struck.

Today we tour Tasmania’s capital city and discover an unsurpassed natural setting interwoven with a tangible sense of history. After lunch, we reboard the aircraft for the flight to Sydney where your Circumnavigate odyssey concludes. Coaches
The coaches that we use for the ground component of this journey are fully air-conditioned.
Level of fitness required: Easy Going
These journeys are not physically demanding unless you want them to be. They include easy guided walks, which are mainly on flat ground. There will be times when you are required to board a launch for shore excursions. You must be able to walk up to 500 metres unaided and will not need any foreseen assistance throughout the journey. For all clients to fully enjoy this travel experience, excellent health and mobility are required by all.
We strongly urge you to consider the fitness rating before selecting your preferred journey, in respect for your fellow travellers. Bill Peach Journeys reserves the right to refuse travel to any client whose fitness level is below the recommended rating.
