Overnight: Four Seasons Hotel Sydney

After breakfast at leisure, we will step back in time to a Sydney of yesteryear. Built in 1844, Susannah Place Museum is a terrace of four houses that incorporates a recreated 1915 corner store. Rare in the city of Sydney, it has a continuous history of domestic occupancy and provides the opportunity to explore domestic Sydney life from 1844 to 1990. It is evidence of the richness of community life that existed in the Rocks and is a fascinating look at nineteenth-century inner city life.

Our next stop is the S.H. Ervin Gallery, considered one of Sydney’s leading public art institutions housed in the historic National Trust Centre on Observatory Hill, the Rocks in Sydney. The Gallery’s exhibition program is designed to explore the richness and diversity of Australian art, both historical and contemporary, and present it in new contexts. The Gallery is renowned for encouraging research and promoting scholarly appraisal of artists from all periods of Australian art history. You have the afternoon at leisure to prepare for this evening’s performance.

Following dinner, you will experience the romance of the original Bohemian love story at the magnificent Handa Opera on Sydney Harbour. Composed by Giacomo Puccini to an Italian libretto by Luigi Illica and Giuseppe Giacosa, the opera is based on Scènes de la vie de bohème (bohemian everyday life) by Henri Murger. La Bohème opens your soul to emotions stirred by Puccini’s passionate music. As six friends bare their hearts in a Parisian winter, you will fall in love, flare with passion and ache with loss, right alongside them. Immerse yourself in the romance as the sun sets over Sydney’s spectacular skyline, a magnificent backdrop as dusk falls.

Overnight: Four Seasons Hotel Sydney

Following a leisurely breakfast, depart the hotel for a coach tour of one of the world’s most beautiful touring routes. The Grand Pacific Drive weaves through one of the oldest national parks in the world and then over the Sea Cliff Bridge, an engineering marvel. We will visit Governors Game lookout in Stanwell Park which offers brilliant coastal views and lovely heathlands.

After a local lunch, we visit the charming coastal towns of Coledale, Austinmer, and Thirroul, all historic coal mining villages, better known today for their breathtaking beaches on this unspoiled NSW South Coast. Enjoy your farewell dinner this evening at Sydney’s famed O Bar.
