Day 1: Arrive Auckland

Today your journey begins in Auckland. Meet your Journey Director and fellow travellers at a welcome dinner this evening.

Overnight: Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour or similar

Day 2: Waiheke Island

Travel by ferry to picturesque Waiheke Island, a haven of beautiful vineyards, olive groves and beaches; here we sample world class wines and produce. Dinner at leisure this evening.

Day 3: Auckland - Rotorua - Taupo

This morning we fly south to the famous Rotorua thermal region, renowned for its towering geysers and significance to the Maori culture. Continue on to picturesque Lake Taupo, home to Australasia’s largest lake.

Day 4: Taupo - Napier

At Huka Falls we witness natural hydro power with more than 220,000 litres of water per second barrelling over the 11 metre high waterfall. We cruise Lake Taupo to learn about its volcanic history and Maori mythology before continuing on to Napier.

Day 5: Napier - Wellington

This morning we explore Napier, a beautifully preserved art deco town. Take a short flight to the capital of New Zealand – Wellington and enjoy an afternoon at leisure in the city located on a beautiful harbour at the southern tip of the North Island.

Day 6: Wellington

Visit Wellington’s Botanical Gardens and ride on the famous cable car. Visit the acclaimed Te Papa Museum depicting the arts, culture and heritage of New Zealand. Dinner at leisure this evening.

Day 7: Wellington - Marlborough Sounds

Re-board the aircraft today and enjoy spectacular flightseeing over Marlborough Sounds landing in the heart of the Marlborough wine country. On arrival transfer to the acclaimed Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre, which houses a display like no other and you don’t have to be an aviation buff to enjoy it. This afternoon cruise the Marlborough Sounds on a luxury vessel. Visit Putanui Point, this point borders three Sounds, Pelorus Sound, Kenepuru Sound and Mahau Sound.

Day 8: Marlborough - Christchurch

A short flight over the patchwork splendour of the Canterbury Plains to Christchurch. Lunch today in the Botanic Gardens; founded over 150 years ago, they are considered the green heart of the Garden City. We then enjoy cruising the Avon River on our authentic Edwardian punts before our tour of the city centre.

Day 9: Christchurch - Te Anau

After breakfast we drive to Te Anau in time for a luncheon cruise on pristine Lake Te Anau, the South Island’s largest lake.

Day 10: Doubtful Sound

Transfer from Te Anau to Doubtful Sound for a memorable cruise which reveals dramatic scenery where the high vertical walls of the Sound protect the pristine wilderness. Perhaps see dolphins, seals and bird life along the way. Noted for its serenity, Doubtful Sound is called the ‘Sound of Silence’ and is also the deepest of the fiords. We transfer back to Te Anau marvelling at the dramatic scenery of Fiordland National Park.

Day 11: Te Anau - Queenstown

After breakfast transfer to Arrowtown, a historic gold mining town located on the banks of the Arrow River. We continue on to the award winning luxury of Millbrook Resort. Your afternoon at leisure will allow you to either take a shuttle into Queenstown or explore this remarkable property which has been named New Zealand’s best hotel three years running. Nestled within the Southern Alps, Millbrook’s iconic, inspirational setting takes full advantage of its peaceful, rural outlook. Framed by the aptly named Remarkables Mountain Range, it is set among rolling hills and gentle streams.

Day 12: Glenorchy

Enjoy a scenic drive to Glenorchy, then experience the thrill of a jetboat on the Dart River through “Lord of the Rings” country. Tonight you will enjoy your farewell dinner.

Day 13: Depart Queenstown

Your New Zealand odyssey concludes today with transfers to Queenstown Airport after breakfast. Say a fond farewell to new friends taking with you memories of an incredible Aircruise!


About AIRCRUISING

An Aircruise with Bill Peach Journeys is the perfect way to explore these hard to reach destinations in the style, speed, and comfort of your own private aircraft. The formula is simple – travelling by private aircraft means that we can land directly in each location ensuring time on the ground is spent discovering each region.

Fully Inclusive

When you travel on an Aircruise everything is included and arranged before you even leave home. This means not only does your holiday include accommodation, dining, and all excursions but every single one of these elements is the finest in its class.  Throughout the journey you will have a Journey Director on hand to look after you every step of the way.

Mode of Transport

This journey will be operated by a 19 seat Metroliner twin engine turbo prop or similar. The aircraft is operated by two experienced pilots. The cabin is pressurised with comfortable seats. To ensure a variety of viewing for everyone, we change seat allocation each day.

Our Icons of New Zealand Aircruise has a combination of transport modes; we will be using air-conditioned coaches, boats and jet boats for this journey.

Level of fitness required: Moderate

This journey is designed for those looking to venture off the beaten track. You must be able to walk up to 1km unaided and will not need any foreseen assistance throughout the journey.

We strongly urge you to consider the fitness rating before selecting your preferred journey, in respect for your fellow travellers. Bill Peach Journeys reserves the right to refuse travel to any client whose fitness level is below the recommended rating.
