Day 1: Sydney - Hunter Valley

Meet this morning at the award winning Intercontinental Double Bay where we will enjoy French champagne and an indulgent High Tea lunch as you meet your fellow travellers and Journey Director. Following, we will transfer to the Hunter Valley to your luxurious hotel, the Château Élan. The hotel is set within 40 acres of beautifully manicured gardens with magnificent views over tranquil vineyards and the wineries of the Hunter Valley. Your welcome dinner will be hosted by your Journey Director tonight.

Overnight: Château Élan or similar

Day 2: Hunter Valley

This morning we explore the Hunter Valley, one of Australia’s major wine regions, with a viticultural history dating back to the early 1800s. Known for varietals such as Semillon and Shiraz, it’s home to numerous wineries, including world-renowned brands and family-run boutique operations. Hunter Valley wines are unique to the region, thanks to its climate, its soils and the experience of its growers and producers. Famous throughout Australia and the world, Hunter Valley wines have a unique range of flavours that could tempt almost any palate. Today we enjoy a behind the scenes tour of the Audrey Wilkinson winery including wine and cheese tasting. After dinner at the hotel, we visit the Hunter Valley Gardens which span over 60 acres. Be amazed by the sensational sights, colours and fragrances of the stunning feature gardens as they are “dressed” for the season in a magical display of twinkling illumination at the Christmas Lights Spectacular.

Overnight: Château Élan or similar

Day 3: Hunter Valley - Port Stephens

Depart the Hunter Valley and travel towards the coast arriving at Anna Bay. We will drive along beautiful Stockton Beach until we come upon the hidden village of “Tin City” emerging out of the sand dunes like a mirage. We will learn about the Aboriginal and military history of the area before arriving in Port Stephens. We tour the town and take in the expansive views of Nelson Bay and beyond at Gan Gan Lookout. We check into The Anchorage, a luxury Hamptons-style property nestled by the white sands of the port offering picturesque views towards Corrie Island National Reserve.

Overnight: The Anchorage Hotel

Day 4: Port Stephens

Today the group will enjoy a cruise through the waterways of Port Stephens  which is larger than Sydney Harbour. Port Stephens is a port of contrast geographically, from the striking headlands of volcanic origin, to low lying sand spits and mangrove forests. The ‘port’ is characterised by small bays and the estuaries of the Myall River, Tilligerry Creek and the Karuah River.

Shoal Bay, the Eastern-most beach on the Harbour’s Southern side, boasts generous white sand and deep swimming water. As we make our way around the waterways, enjoy lunch and maybe even get the opportunity to see dolphins, flocks of oceanic sea birds and southern fur seals lazing on the rocks at Cabbage Tree Island. Time this afternoon to enjoy this beautiful property and stunning location. This evening there will be a farewell dinner at the hotel.

Overnight: The Anchorage Hotel

Day 5: Port Stephens - Sydney

After breakfast, the group will transfer to Sydney airport. Say farewell to new friends and take away fond memories of a delightful sojourn from the vineyards to the coast.
