Arrive at Casablanca International Airport where you will be met by your English-speaking driver, who will be with you throughout your stay in Morocco and will ensure that everything runs smoothly along the way. You will transfer to your luxury hotel in the centre of Casablanca. After check-in you will be taken for an afternoon visit to the Habous, the antiques and crafts area, before a stroll along the Ain Diab – the famous Corniche. An early evening light dinner is included at Rick’s Cafe.

After breakfast, visit the great Mosque of Hassan II, completed in 1993 after great expense and artistic labour. One of the largest and most beautiful mosques in the world, its gleaming structure and tremendous wealth is in stark contrast to the rest of Casablanca. A light lunch overlooking the Atlantic before continuing by motorway to Fes, the spiritual capital of Morocco where you will check into Palais Faraj, a beautifully restored palace with stunning views over the city and surrounds of Fes. Dinner this evening in the International restaurant.

Day 3: FES
Fes has various claims to nobility as one of the most prestigious cities in the Muslim world and is also the oldest of the imperial cities and the capital of the first Arab dynasty of Morocco. After breakfast, your guide and your driver will meet you for a visit to Fes with its museums and Royal Palace, followed by a walk through the Unesco World Heritage, ancient medina, Fes El-Bali. You will visit the not to be missed Tanner’s quarters, small Moroccan art and craft museums, the water clock, the most colourful Souk el-Attatine, Fondouk el-Nejjarine and the Medersa Bou Inania, a dazzling example of architectural refinement. Lunch in the garden of a beautifully restored ryad where you can relax before continuing your tour of Fes. You will pass the Medersas and Karaouyine University, which has existed for the past 1000 years; see craftsmen working in the narrow lanes much as they have done for centuries, stopping at one of the Carpet Palaces to learn about all the different types of carpets made in Morocco while sipping a glass of traditional mint tea.

Day 4: FES

Morning visit to the famous potteries on the edge of the city with the rest of the day at leisure to continue sightseeing with your guide available, shopping or try a relaxing hammam and massage in the hotel’s beautiful Spa perhaps. Light lunch available in the hotel.

Dinner this evening at Numero 7, a new restaurant in the Medina where Chefs come to do a three-month residency working with local chefs and using the local seasonal produce.

After breakfast, we continue overland to Volubilis, home to the largest and most well preserved Roman ruins in Morocco. With its Triumphal Arches, Basilicas and Capitols, the Volubilis skyline is peppered with examples of Roman architecture. Next, we visit the Imperial City of Meknes, known as the “Moroccan Versailles” and founded at the end of the 17th century. Late afternoon sees us moving onto Rabat.

After breakfast, your local guide will accompany you for a morning tour of the city including a visit to the charming Oudayas where the young artists gather, the Royal Palace, the Tour Hassan and the Mausoleum of Mohamed V. After a light lunch overlooking the Atlantic Ocean at Plage des Oudays, leave for the drive to Kasbah Tamadot, the mountain retreat owned by Sir Richard Branson, arriving in time for check-in late afternoon. Enjoy the tranquility of the mountains staying in luxurious rooms with views over the Atlas Mountains and down the valley towards Marrakech. Afternoon at leisure before a light dinner in the restaurant overlooking the mountains.

Morning at leisure with an optional short tour of the local area in a 4WD before meeting your mules for a short ride through the beautiful National Park to a charming Berber village where you will see how the Mountain people live and enjoy a traditional lunch with the family. Afternoon at leisure.

After a morning at leisure leave for Marrakech in time for check-in at the Villa des Orangers in the afternoon. This afternoon, enjoy a guided evening stroll, arriving in time for sunset at the famous Djemaa-el-Fna Square to see the jugglers, story-tellers, snake charmers, acrobats and vendors performing at sunset much as they have done for centuries.

Tour Marrakech today to discover all the delights this romantic city can offer. First, visit the Saadien Tombs in the Kasbah, then walk on through to the Bahia Palace, located in the Jewish quarter known as the Mellah, and the Palais Badi. Continue your tour this afternoon into the Medina and vibrant colourful Souks.

This morning we greet you with your own private horse-drawn carriage for a ride through Marrakechs infamous gardens. This truly remarkable experience will visit the famous Jardin Majorelle, the colourful garden full of cacti and other exotic plants which was restored by the late Yves Saint Laurent. This evening drinks at the wonderful Lawrence Arnott Art Gallery.

Morning at leisure before your departure in the early afternoon for the Agafay desert. Our destination, La Pause, is a peaceful retreat in this unique desert wilderness and provides the perfect spot to relax. We leave this unique desert experience and return to Marrakech after dinner under the stars.

After breakfast, farewell Marrakech. You will make your way to Casablanca International Airport for the flight home taking with you memories of an unforgettable Moroccan discovery.

The Villa Des Orangers is perfectly positioned to explore the Medina of Marrakech, at the foot of the Koutoubia mosque and halfway between the royal palace and the famous Jemaâ El Fna square. In Fes, the Palais Faraj boasts breathtaking views of the twelve centuries old Medina.

Level of fitness required: Moderate

These journeys are moderately active and designed for the traveller who is looking to venture off the beaten path. To fully participate in all activities, the traveller must be able to walk up to 1 km on even surfaces unaided, travel by four-wheel drive vehicles along ungraded roads and walk up steps unassisted.
