We commence in the scenic harbour city of Hobart staying 3 nights at the award winning Henry Jones Art Hotel, Australia’s first dedicated art hotel. We discover the gourmet delights of the fertile fruit orchards, vineyards and farmland of the picturesque Huon Valley. We explore the charming village of Richmond in the Coal River Valley region boasting Australia’s oldest bridge and Catholic Church. After celebrating the riches of the region with an Easter feast, we relax in the tranquil serenity of Stewarts Bay Lodge, set on 9 hectares of waterfront property for 2 nights. A highlight will be our exploration of the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Port Arthur including a cruise of its waterways. Day 1: Arrive Hobart

Transfer from Hobart Airport to the award winning Henry Jones Art Hotel, Australia’s first dedicated art hotel, a fusion of history and modernity, art and design. Enjoy the facilities of this remarkable hotel or explore this picturesque harbour city at your leisure. Your welcome dinner will be hosted by your Journey Director tonight, a perfect chance to meet your fellow travellers.

Day 2: Hobart

Following breakfast, we embark on a historic tour of Hobart including the Cascades Female Factory Historic Site, which is considered to be the most significant site associated with female convicts in Australia. We will enjoy a tour of the Barilla Bay Oyster Farm where our expert guide will show how oysters are grown from working in the tiny spat to full maturity. This evening, we celebrate Good Friday with a delicious seafood dinner.

Day 3: Huon Valley

A chance to visit the famous Salamanca Markets for those interested. We visit the charming town of Richmond, rich in history and architecture, it was once an important convict station linking Hobart with Port Arthur. Today, it is known for housing fascinating landmarks, including Australia’s oldest bridge completed in 1825 and Australia’s oldest remaining Catholic church, St. John’s, built in 1836. After wine tasting at Kate Hill Wines, we will enjoy lunch at Home Hill Wines. We then tour Cygnet, a picturesque town set in the centre of the fruit growing Huon Valley. This afternoon, we visit the award winning architectural wonder, Coast House, a boutique property set on its own spectacular private peninsula on the Huon River.

Day 4: Hobart - Port Arthur

For those interested, there will be the opportunity to attend Easter Sunday church services. We ferry across to the The Museum of Old and New Art, the largest privately funded museum in Australia, established within the Moorilla Winery on the Berriedale Peninsula. Easter Sunday lunch will be enjoyed at award winning Frogmore Winery, set amongst the vines with breathtaking views over the surrounding valley and waterways. Transfer to Stewarts Bay Lodge, which is nestled between a beautiful beach, a forest, the calming ocean and a world heritage listed national park on the Tasman Peninsula. We enjoy 2 nights at this beautiful property.

Day 5: Port Arthur

This morning we visit the Port Arthur Lavender Farm, a true feast for all the senses. Next we explore the remarkable UNESCO World  Heritage Site of Port Arthur. You will have access to more than 30 buildings, ruins and restored houses, including the Convict Water Supply Trail, the new dockyard and the Coal Mines Historic Site at Saltwater River. We will enjoy lunch here and cruise this serene site before returning to the Lodge for our farewell dinner.

Day 5: Depart Hobart

After a leisurely breakfast, we transfer to Hobart airport. Saying a fond farewell to new friends, we take away memories of an enchanting Easter Sojourn in Tasmania.

Flights from your home port to Hobart are not included in the journey price. Should you require flights to and from Hobart, we can provide a competitive quote on airfares and pre and post tour accommodation in Hobart, at the commencement and conclusion of your journey.

Level of Fitness Required – Easy Going

These journeys are not physically demanding unless you want them to be. They include easy guided walks, which are mainly on flat ground. There will be times when you are required to board a launch for shore excursions. You must be able to walk up to 500 metres unaided and will not need any foreseen assistance throughout the journey. For all clients to fully enjoy this travel experience, excellent health and mobility is required by all.
