Day 1: Arrive Sydney

Transfer from Sydney Airport to the award-winning Four Seasons Hotel Sydney, adjacent to the historic Rocks district. A welcome dinner this evening will be hosted by your Journey Director.

Day 2: Sydney - Mudgee

Depart Sydney for our lunch stop in Lithgow. Continue on to Mudgee where we enjoy a town tour with a honey and mead tasting at Honey Haven. The Mudgee region has long been recognised as a fertile and picturesque valley where grapes, stone fruit, nuts and olives thrive. The wine industry was established in the 1850’s by German vignerons and today there are over 40 cellar doors in Mudgee.

Day 3: Gulgong & Rylstone

This morning visit Gulgong, where the buildings and streetscape present a remarkably intact and picturesque example of a nineteenth century town. A local historian will bring to life an interesting history of Gulgong including visits to the Pioneers Museum and the Henry Lawson Centre. Moving on, visit the heritage village of Rylstone and the award-winning Rylstone Olive Press which presses within 6 hours of harvest. This evening’s Warakirri dinner is a celebration of exceptional Australian native food, culture and rituals.

Day 4: Easter

For those interested, an opportunity to enjoy an Easter Church service this morning. We transfer to the acclaimed Lowes Winery for a private tasting experience to learn about the range of award-winning wines produced by this organic and biodynamic vineyard. Today we enjoy Easter lunch at The Zin House, Kim Currie’s award-winning, hatted country restaurant serving exceptional produce, most of which is grown on the property.

Day 5: Mudgee - Orange

Departing Mudgee, we visit the historic village of Sofala before lunching at Chesleigh Homestead set on a beautiful 3000 acre property. Next, we head to the Orange region, renowned for fine fresh produce available throughout its 23 villages. The altitude, cool climate, soil structure and topography are the unique points of difference which distinguish wines from the Orange region. Check-in to The Byng Street Boutique Hotel in the heart of Orange’s heritage precinct. This afternoon, enjoy wine tasting at a local winery and tour Orange, a city that reflects a rich tapestry from the traditional Wiradjuri land owners, to the colonial settlers, gold miners and commercial traders.

Day 6: Orange

We begin the day with a cooking class led by pioneering chef Michael Manners at Ross Hill Wines. For more than 40 years, Michael Manners, winner of The Sydney Morning Herald Award for Professional Excellence, has had a profound influence on the state’s restaurant scene. Today, we will learn the intricacies of wine and food matching. This afternoon, we head to Cowra to visit the serene beauty of its Japanese Garden followed by a stop at the Japanese War Cemetery, the only one of its kind in Australia. This evening we enjoy the fine produce and wines of Orange at our farewell dinner.

Day 7: Orange - Sydney

After breakfast, we tour the Orange Regional Museum which features exhibitions on settlement of the region, mining, the landscape, agriculture, and local communities. Transfer to Orange Airport after lunch for our flight back to Sydney, where this delightful Easter in wine country Sojourn concludes.

Pre Tour

Flights from your home port to Sydney are not included in the journey price. Should you require flights to and from Sydney, we can provide a competitive quote on airfares and pre and post tour accommodation in Sydney, at the commencement and conclusion of your journey.

Level of Fitness Required – Easy Going

These journeys are not physically demanding unless you want them to be. They include easy guided walks, which are mainly on flat ground. There will be times when you are required to board a launch for shore excursions. You must be able to walk up to 1 kilometre unaided and will not need any foreseen assistance throughout the journey. For all clients to fully enjoy this travel experience, excellent health and mobility is required by all.
