Day 1: Arrive Adelaide

Arrive into Adelaide and transfer to the Mayfair Hotel, Adelaide’s newest 5 star boutique hotel. Your welcome dinner will be hosted by your Journey Director tonight, a perfect chance to get to know your fellow travellers.

Day 2: Adelaide - Mt Lofty

This morning we visit the Mt Lofty Botanical Gardens where we will immerse ourselves in its spectacular colour, rich aromas and amazing diversity. Sprawling across 97 hectares, it is a remarkable Botanic Garden dedicated to the cultivation and display of the world’s cool climate plants.

This afternoon we enjoy a historical tour of Mount Lofty House, our multi award-winning luxury accommodation for the next three evenings. An iconic manor hotel perfectly positioned overlooking Piccadilly Valley, this designer boutique property in the Adelaide Hills is timeless elegance. Built in 1852 by prominent statesman Arthur Hardy as his summer house, the beautiful manor soon became the state’s premier address for lavish and infamous parties for Adelaide’s elite of the day. Reminiscent of a South Australian Great Gatsby, Arthur Hardy’s wife Martha described their lifestyle as ‘a kind of feudal splendour’. An exceptional dégustation dinner this evening at this acclaimed three hatted restaurant.

Day 3: Goolwa

After breakfast we tour Goolwa, once a thriving river port – the last on the Murray River before it reached the Southern Ocean. We will explore Goolwa, the only place in Australia where paddle steamers and steam trains met to carry produce inland for shipping overseas. This afternoon we cruise into world renowned wetlands of Coorong National Park where the river meets the sea. Visit ancient midden sites, hear stories of the Riverboat days and learn about the area’s first inhabitants, an area imortalised by Colin Thieles’ ‘Storm Boy’.

Day 4: Hahndorf

For those interested, an opportunity to enjoy an Easter Church service this morning. Today we tour the charming town of Hahndorf, the jewel of the Adelaide Hills. Considered one of South Australia’s most popular towns to visit, Hahndorf was originally a farming village of Lutheran settlers and is classified as the oldest surviving German settlement. We visit the historic Cedars house and garden, Australia’s oldest viewable artist’s studio of Hans Heysen, local Hahndorf artist. Today we enjoy Easter lunch celebrating exceptional local produce.

Day 5: McLaren Vale & Fleurieu Peninsula

After breakfast, we tour McLaren Vale, the birthplace of the South Australian wine industry and home to some of the world’s oldest grape vines. We will drive along the breathtaking coastline and explore the stunning Fleurieu Peninsula known for its white sand beaches, undulating vineyards and pretty coastal towns. An exceptional lunch at Cariole winery before returning to Adelaide and our Farewell Dinner.

Day 5: Depart Adelaide

After a leisurely breakfast, we transfer to the airport. Saying a fond farewell to new friends, we take away memories of a delightful Easter Sojourn.

Flights from your home port to Melbourne are not included in the journey price. Should you require flights to and from Adelaide, we can provide a competitive quote on airfares and pre and post tour accommodation in Adelaide, at the commencement and conclusion of your journey.

Level of Fitness Required – Easy Going

These journeys are not physically demanding unless you want them to be. They include easy guided walks, which are mainly on flat ground. There will be times when you are required to board a launch for shore excursions. You must be able to walk up to 500 metres unaided and will not need any foreseen assistance throughout the journey. For all clients to fully enjoy this travel experience, excellent health and mobility is required by all.
