Day 1: Arrive Melbourne

Transfer from Melbourne Airport to the luxurious The Westin Melbourne. Explore this vibrant metropolis this afternoon at leisure from The Westin’s prime location, walking distance to many Melbourne attractions and galleries. Your welcome dinner will be hosted by your Journey Director tonight, a perfect chance to get to know your fellow travellers.

Overnight: The Westin Melbourne

Day 2: Melbourne - Daylesford

Transfer by road to Daylesford. Just 90 minutes from Melbourne, Daylesford boasts the highest concentration of mineral springs in the country. The natural beauty of the area and its period character have drawn a widening artistic community and many visitors to the area. We will tour this town that sits at the foothills of the Great Dividing Range and also Australia’s largest mineral springs, Hepburn Springs. Today Hepburn Springs is home to many fine art and craft shops and caters to the visitor trade that descend on this picturesque area for their acclaimed spa treatments. Given that this is the region that takes indulgence to another level, it is only right that we sample local produce at a cheese and wine tasting and a chocolate factory.

Arrive this afternoon at the Lake House, your accommodation for the next three nights. Set on six acres of abundant and fruitful gardens that extend down to the waters of Lake Daylesford and provide guests with immediate access to the lake shore and the Wombat State Forest beyond.

Overnight: Lake House, Daylesford

Day 3: Bendigo

Today we journey to the impressive small city of Bendigo. It has one of the finest collections of Victorian buildings of any inland city in Australia. The streets are literally awash with huge granite edifices and, in the centre of the city, a fountain dedicated to Queen Victoria’s daughter-in-law, Princess Alexandra. One of the best ways to explore the city is on the infamous talking tram, which runs through the heart of the city uncovering much of its fascinating past. We will also visit the Bendigo Art Gallery and tour Central Deborah Gold Mine for a historical look at Victoria’s gold rush years. After lunch at the charming Buda House & Gardens we return to the Lake House.

Overnight: Lake House, Daylesford

Day 4: Ballarat

This morning we explore Ballarat, a city established during the gold rush era. In August 1851, gold was discovered in Ballarat creating the biggest gold rush the world has ever seen. Within a few short years the population had reached more than 40,000 and the tent town of Ballarat quickly gave way to a grand Victorian city of timber, brick and bluestone. Explore Ballarat’s grand Victorian streetscapes of opulent ‘’Boomtown’’ architecture and become captivated by the history behind the facades. True tales of rebellion, tragedy and triumph, fortunes won and lost, along with the city’s highest achievers and world famous visitors. We celebrate our farewell dinner on Easter Sunday with a very special evening for all.

Overnight: Lake House, Daylesford

Day 5: Depart Melbourne

After a leisurely breakfast, we transfer to the airport. Saying a fond farewell to new friends, we take away memories of a delightful Easter Sojourn.
