In the east, we explore Ottawa, Toronto, iconic Niagara Falls and the French Colonial cities of Montreal and Quebec City. Heading west we discover Calgary, Banff, Jasper and Kamloops in the breathtaking heart of the Canadian Rockies including travelling on the Rocky Mountaineer – Gold Leaf service. We also visit cosmopolitan Vancouver and picturesque Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. Day 1: Arrive Montreal

Arriving into Montreal, a private transfer takes you to your luxury hotel, the multi-award-winning Fairmont The Queen Elizabeth in the heart of Montreal’s thriving shopping and business district. Explore this vibrant city from the hotel which is directly linked to the famous Underground City, a 30-km-long pedestrian network linking restaurants, malls, and attractions. Welcome drinks will be hosted by your Journey Director tonight.

Day 2: Montreal

A mid-morning start to tour Montreal’s highlights including Old Montreal, Place Jacques Cartier, Notre Dame Cathedral, St Denis Street, and Mt Royal residential area. We also visit Ile Ste Helene and Notre Dame Islands, St Lawrence River, the Olympic Stadium and Botanical Gardens. Enjoy a special welcome dinner this evening with your fellow travellers.

Day 3: Montreal

Today we enjoy a traditional Québecois lunch at Sucrerie de la Montagne, a traditional “old time” sugar shack set on top of Mont Rigaud amidst 110 acres of spectacular woods and forest trails. Guests will be transferred to the main cabin by horse-drawn carriage and enjoy a Caribou drink by the fire whilst a fiddler entertains with traditional folk songs.

Day 4: Montreal - Quebec City

Transfer to Quebec City in Canada’s mostly French-speaking Québec province. Exploring this beautiful city with a distinctly colonial feel of stone buildings and narrow streets, we visit the most important sights including the Place d’Armes, Parliament Hill, Chateau Frontenac and Place Royale to name a few.

Day 5: Quebec City

This morning begins with a visit to beautiful Montmorency Falls followed by a guided tour of the recreated Native Village of Wendake located on the Huron-Wendat reservation. We will enjoy a traditional native lunch before returning to the hotel.

Day 6: Quebec City - Ottawa

Transfer by coach this morning to Ottawa, Canada’s capital, and commence a city tour. We will pass Parliament Hill, Sparks Street, Rideau Hall, Laurier House, Rideau Canal, the Agricultural Experimental Farm, and visit the Museum of History.

Day 7: Ottawa - Toronto

During our drive to Toronto today we stop at Rockport for a cruise through the 1000 Islands before enjoying a sightseeing tour of the dynamic metropolis of Toronto. We visit the iconic CN Tower, the massive Skydome Stadium, Harbourfront, and Queen’s Quay. In this, the most multiculturally diverse city on the planet, we visit China Town, Old and New City Hall, and many other highlights.

Day 8: Toronto - Niagra Falls

This morning, we drive to the iconic Niagara Falls and cruise on the Horn blower Boat. After, we drive through the fruit and wine region of Ontario and along the Niagara Parkway to reach the quaint little town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, the first capital of Upper Canada. Return to Toronto in the late afternoon.

Day 9: Toronto - Calgary - Banff

Fly from Toronto to Calgary and enjoy a brief sightseeing tour on arrival. It is a cosmopolitan city with numerous skyscrapers that has a distinct western culture earning it the nickname “Cowtown”. We tour all the main sights including Heritage Park, Fort Calgary, Glenbow Museum and the Stampede Grounds before continuing to Banff National Park.

Day 10: Banff

Sightseeing today to beautiful Banff National Park. The tour includes Lake Minnewanka, Bow Falls, and Tunnel Mountain Drive with views over Bow River Valley. We enjoy a Sulphur Mountains Gondola ride to the top for breathtaking views of the mountain ranges and valleys in the heart of the Canadian Rockies with a visit to the spectacular Lake Louise, a glacial lake famed for its incredible emerald melt-water.

Day 11: Banff - Jasper

Depart for Jasper this morning via the scenic Columbia Parkway. Rushing waterfalls, crystal clear rivers, emerald lakes, and snow-capped peaks create an ever-changing montage of mountain wilderness abundant with wildlife through Banff and Jasper National Parks. At the Columbia Icefield we board a specially designed “SnoCoach” for an impressive ride onto the glacier. Travel in a specially designed Ice Explorer to the middle of the glacier, an unforgettable experience.

Day 12: Jasper

Today we explore Jasper National Park including the breathtaking Maligne Lake, Medicine Lake, Maligne Canyon, and enjoy a cruise to world famous Spirit Island.

Day 13: Jasper - Kamloops

Today we board the Rocky Mountaineer. Travel through scenic valleys, the Coast Mountains Range, and the Fraser Canyon with its spectacular white water rapids and dramatic landscape. Pass by the Albreda Glacier and magnificent Pyramid Falls and the majestic Mount Robson.

Day 14: Kamloops - Vancouver

Reboard the Rocky Mountaineer to relax and enjoy the spectacular scenery on offer in this beautiful part of the world.

Day 15: Vancouver

Today we depart on a sightseeing tour of Vancouver, a seaport renowned for its scenic beauty. During the tour, the guests will see Stanley Park with its Totem Poles, and historic Gastown. We continue on to visit Chinatown and Canada Place, the site of Expo ’86 and also visit Granville Island.

Day 16: Vancouver - Victoria

Today we travel to Vancouver Island by ferry. We explore Victoria, the capital of British Columbia. Noted for its Victorian architecture, we visit the historic Empress Hotel and imposing Parliament Buildings. Also renowned for its abundant parkland, we visit Thunderbird Park and its forest of totem poles and Butchart Gardens, one of the world’s premier floral show gardens. Through successive generations, The Gardens have retained much of their original design, and continue the Victorian tradition of seasonally changing the outstanding floral displays. Return to Vancouver by floatplane.

Day 17: Depart Vancouver

After breakfast, transfer to Vancouver Airport to board your flight home taking with you fond memories of an unforgettable Autumn Canadian adventure.

Flights from your home port to Canada are not included in the journey price. Should you require flights to and from Canada, we can provide a competitive quote on airfares and pre and post tour accommodation in Canada, at the commencement and conclusion of your journey.

Level of fitness required: Moderate

This journey is more challenging and designed for the more active traveller who is looking to venture off the beaten path. To fully participate in all activities, the traveller must be able to walk up to 1km on even surfaces unaided, travel by four-wheel drive vehicles along ungraded roads and walk up steps unassisted.

We strongly urge you to consider the fitness rating before selecting your preferred journey, in respect for your fellow travellers. Bill Peach Journeys reserves the right to refuse travel to any client whose fitness level is below the recommended rating.
