Bill Peach Journeys is excited to present a wonderful sojourn offering a truly inspiring artistic event in Adelaide. In addition, we will experience the highest standard of eco tourism while touring the pristine wilderness of Kangaroo Island. We begin with a tour of the increasingly cosmopolitan city of Adelaide which serves as the setting for this incredible opportunity to view 65 of the world’s greatest impressionist masterpieces from artists such as Monet, Renoir, Manet and Cézanne at the Colours of Impressionism exhibition at the Art Gallery of South Australia. We will also be touring Glenelg and the Adelaide Hills.

Moving on to Kangaroo Island, we will be staying two nights at the award winning Southern Ocean Lodge. Receiving the highest accolades, the Lodge is the perfect luxury base from which to explore the flora and fauna of this fascinating island.

The exhibition is exclusive to Adelaide and seats are limited for this journey so be sure to book early to avoid disappointment!

Day 1: ARRIVE ADELAIDE

Arrive into Adelaide and transfer to the Mayfair Hotel, Adelaide’s newest 5 star boutique hotel. Meet your Journey Director and fellow travellers at a welcome dinner tonight.

Day 2: ADELAIDE

After breakfast we take a city tour of South Australia’s cosmopolitan coastal capital arriving at the Art Gallery on the River Torrens for the Colours of Impressionism exhibition. We will explore 65 of the world’s greatest impressionist masterpieces from the likes of Monet, Renoir, Manet and Cezanne which are on loan from the Musee d’Orsay’s renowned collection in France. The exhibition charts the revolution of colour that lies at the heart of impressionism and will include works such as Manet’s Serveuse de bocks (The Waitress), Cezanne’s Golfe de Marseille (Bay of Marseille), Caillebotte’s Vue des Toits (Rooftops), Renoir’s Gabrielle à la rose (Gabrielle with a Rose) and Monet’s celebrated La Pie (The Magpie) and Le bassin aux nymphéas, harmonie rose (Water Lilly Pond: Pink Harmony). Following lunch at the Gallery, we explore the delightful bayside town of Glenelg. Recognised as the oldest European settlement on mainland South Australia, Glenelg pays tribute to it’s first colonists at Pioneer Memorial and the Old Gum Tree. Not only does it feature parklands, a jetty from days of old and a long sandy beach, it also has some of Australia’s most magnificent Victorian mansions and gardens. Return to the hotel for dinner.

Day 3: ADELAIDE - KANGAROO ISLAND

After breakfast we fly from Adelaide to Kangaroo Island. A sanctuary for native wildlife like sea lions, koalas and diverse bird species, Kangaroo Island is also famed for its pristine, rugged beauty where over a third of the island is protected in nature reserves. We transfer to our exceptional accommodation for the next two nights, Southern Ocean Lodge. Globally celebrated and multi-award winning, the Lodge floats atop a secluded cliff on a rugged stretch of coast commanding peerless views of the wild Southern Ocean. After lunch we depart for a scenic guided walk atop the limestone cliffs of Hanson Bay. Stand on the bluff, look out to sea and realise there is nothing but ocean between the Lodge and Antarctica. Experience and learn about local flora, fauna and coastline ecosystems. We will then have the Discover Island Heritage visual presentation hosted by resident naturalist staff providing an insight into the Island’s discovery and natural history. Dinner at the Lodge’s restaurant this evening.

Day 4: KANGAROO ISLAND

After breakfast at the Lodge, we will tour Kangaroo Island and discover its highlights. We will have an introduction to its wildlife, maritime heritage and stunning coastal landscapes. Cape du Couedic lighthouse, Remarkable Rocks, Admirals Arch and a fur seal colony. After lunch at the Lodge we will visit Seal Bay Conservation Park, a protected area serving as the home of the third largest Australian sea lion colony in Australia. Dinner at the Lodge tonight.

Day 5: KANGAROO ISLAND - ADELAIDE

After breakfast at the Lodge we fly to Adelaide and enjoy touring of the Adelaide Hills. Here we will discover a scenic region acclaimed for its cool-climate wines and seasonal, artisan and local produce. We check into the hotel with time to freshen up before our farewell dinner this evening.

Day 6: DEPART ADELAIDE

After breakfast we transfer to Adelaide airport for our flight home taking with us memories of a delightful sojourn.

Pre Tour

Flights from your home port to Adelaide are not included in the journey price. Should you require flights to and from Adelaide, we can provide a competitive quote on airfares and pre and post tour accommodation in Adelaide, at the commencement and conclusion of your journey.

Level of Fitness Required – Moderate

This journey is more challenging and designed for the more active traveller who is easily capable of walking around the large Melbourne Park precinct. To fully participate in all activities, the traveller must be able to walk up to 1km on even surfaces unaided and walk up steps unassisted.

We strongly urge you to consider the fitness rating before selecting your preferred journey, in respect for your fellow travellers. Bill Peach Journeys reserves the right to refuse travel to any client whose fitness level is below the recommended rating.
