Hanoi

With ochre-colored colonial buildings, tree-lined boulevards and scenic lakes, Hanoi is full of charm. Commence today’s tour on cyclo, starting with the historic Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. Then transfer to the Temple of Literature, for an overview about Hanoian culture.

The cyclo ride continues on to Hoan Kiem Lake, its legendary Ngoc Son Temple and The Huc Bridge. We also explore the Old Quarters with temples & pagodas and vibrant street life. Your lunch is served at a local restaurant before returning to the hotel for the afternoon at leisure.

Dao Thuc Water Puppet Show

Originating from the 10th century, water puppetry is a unique folk art that cannot be found anywhere in the world but Vietnam. We drive to the charming Dao Thuc village where we visit a puppet making workshop before enjoying a private 30-minute outdoor water puppet show on the village pond accompanied by a live traditional orchestra.

In the afternoon, visit the serene Museum of Ethnology, that offers a fascinating insight into Vietnam’s 54 ethnic minorities.

Hanoi - Ha Long Bay

This morning we board a seaplane for the short yet incredibly scenic flight to Ha Long Bay, known for its emerald waters and thousands of towering limestone islands topped by rainforests. Embark your junk, the elegant Paradise Luxury, and enjoy a buffet lunch on deck while cruising, passing by Hoa Cuong fishing village. After lunch we pass by Soi Sim beach, Coconut Three Island and Cua Van floating village, stopping at Ho Dong Tien where you will have a chance to capture a panoramic view of Halong bay. A lovely dinner follows the Vietnamese cooking demonstration by the Paradise Luxury’s Head Chef.

Ha Long Bay

Early birds can attend a Tai Chi demonstration on the sundeck at the break of dawn. After a full buffet breakfast, transfer to the day-trip boat to explore Bai Tu Long Bay where you can enjoy kayaking or swimming at Thinh Cai Son beach before cruising on to the Vung Vieng floating village. Lunch and dinner are served on board.

Ha Long Bay - Danang

Start the day exploring Sung Sot cave before our transfer to Hanoi and the onward flight to Danang. Arriving in Danang we transfer to our riverside accommodation, the Anantara Hoi An Resort for an afternoon at leisure.

Lifestart Foundation Workshop - Hoi An

Founded in 2000 by an Australian, the Foundation runs programs which are designed to effect a generational change. Enjoy a traditional painting and drawing class and a traditional lantern-making class before returning to Hoi An.

Between the 17th and 19th centuries, Hoi An was a prosperous trading port. Today, this World Heritage-listed ancient town boasts well-preserved buildings allowing visitors a glimpse of its illustrious past. Today we visit the old merchant’s houses, the 400-year-old Japanese Covered Bridge, the Assembly Hall and the colourful market of fashionable silks.

Hue City Highlights Tour

With splendid emperors tombs, ancient pagodas and the remains of the Citadel, Hue retains its royal charm of years past. We start from our hotel with a 10-minute cyclo ride to the Imperial Citadel, a UNESCO listed site. We then visit the seven storey Thien Mu Pagoda followed by the elaborate Khai Dinh Royal Tomb and the serene Tu Duc Royal Tomb.

Hue - Saigon

Saigon

Saigon is the country’s commercial centre and, with over eight million inhabitants and four million motorbikes, a city that never sleeps. Enjoy a city tour to admire Saigon’s historic landmarks including the Notre Dame Cathedral, the Central Post Office, designed by the French architect, Gustave Eiffel. Continue your visit to the former Presidential Palace, and the War Remnants Museum for a vivid insight into the war years.

Mekong Delta – Ben Tre

After driving south, board our private boat for a glimpse at river life. Visit a brick kiln, a coconut workshop and a family run mat workshop. We then admire the tranquility of Mekong villages on our tuk-tuk ride before a sampan trip to a riverbank local restaurant for lunch with Mekong Delta specialties.

Cu Chi Tunnel - Ambassador’s Home

Today takes us to the Cu Chi Tunnels which were dug in 1948 for the guerrillas to hide in, protected from French air and ground sweeps then later used during the Vietnam War. A memorable farewell dinner this evening in the Former US Ambassador’s Home including a cocktail reception, traditional music and dance and a sophisticated Vietnamese meal.

Level of fitness required: Moderate
This journey is more challenging and designed for the more active traveller who is looking to venture off the beaten path. To fully participate in all activities, the traveller must be able to walk up to 1km on even surfaces unaided, travel by four-wheel drive vehicles along ungraded roads and walk up steps unassisted.
