To ensure maximum enjoyment of your travel experience Bill Peach Journeys covers all of the details from superb accommodation throughout to all dining experiences. On board the Road to Mandalay special excursions off the ship have been organised to showcase the remarkable areas you are travelling through. In Yangon your experienced journey planners have designed exclusive visits to uncover the essence of the region.
This journey commences on Day 1 at Sydney International Airport where you board your flight to Singapore and conect with Silk Air for your onward flight to Yangon. Upon arrival, transfer to your luxury hotel, The Governor's Residence. Included in your journey are your transfers from Yangon Airport to the The Governor's Residence. Your journey concludes on Day 10 at Sydney International Airport.
This journey has been designed to coincide with Singapore Airlines flights from Sydney to Singapore then Silk Air to Yangon. Please ask Bill Peach Journeys for assistance in arranging flights from your home port to meet the Sydney group flight departure.
Transport standards in Myanmar are not as high as we would expect here, vehicles are generally very old. When touring we will be using the best available coach, however, this can be an experience in itself!
Commercial flights will be taken on Silk Air.
This boat is owned and operated by Orient Express. The Road To Mandalay incorporates elegant Burmese materials and unique styles with high standards in decor and modern comfort. Air-conditioned throughout, the ship has 4 decks and accommodates 82 passengers. All of the 43 spacious cabins are sympathetically decorated using Burmese style fabrics.
Facilities on board include a Restaurant, Piano Bar, Boutique, Beauty Room, small Library and a spacious Lounge, where local entertainment and cultural lectures take place during the cruise. The Observation Deck has a swimming pool, bar and sun deck area and provides, quite simply, the best views in Myanmar.
This journey is more challenging and designed for the more active traveller who is looking to venture off the beaten path. The touring in Burma is nearly all walking with steep stairs in temples and pagodas. The temperatures will be in the 30’s with high humidity levels. Some places are remote from or will only offer very basic medical facilities, there is however a local doctor onboard the Road to Mandalay. To fully participate in all activities the traveller must be able to walk up to 1km on even surfaces unaided, travel by 4WD vehicles along ungraded roads, walk up steps unassisted and board boats from water tenders.
In keeping with the locations, some of the accommodation is spread out and at some distance from facilities. If you require wheelchair assistance at airports, then this journey is not suitable and we suggest looking at our “easy” rated programmes.
We strongly urge you to consider the fitness rating before selecting your preferred journey, in respect for your fellow travellers. Bill Peach Journeys reserves the right to refuse travel to any client whose fitness level is below the recommended rating.
